Mission
To enhance the musical fabric of the Santa Clarita Valley by providing high-quality music opportunities for instrumentalists and performances for residents of all ages while educating the public on the importance of the arts.
Our Story
In 2020, the Santa Clarita Philharmonic announced that it would no longer continue operations, leaving a vacuum in our community for instrumentalists, players, students, and audience members. Under the leadership of Dr. Joshua Wentz, Mission Opera took it upon themselves to create a volunteer orchestra of players who love music, love to play, and want to express themselves.
In 2022, Mission Orchestra evolved to become the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra, a performing arts nonprofit composed of a mix of volunteer and professional musicians that produces two orchestral performances each year. Musicians from the orchestra can also be seen supporting Mission Opera productions and in chamber ensembles in various events around the city.
We strive to enhance the musical fabric of the Santa Clarita Valley by providing high-quality musical opportunities for instrumentalists and performances for residents of all ages while educating the public on the importance of the arts.
